Certified Medical Assistant

Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure smooth practice operations and provide excellent patient care. Works in clerical, administrative, or clinical capacities, and may perform specialized tasks.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers screening tools.
2. Records medical information, conducts patient interviews, takes vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
3. Assists with clinic visits, verifies and records clinical data, and maintains quality standards.
4. Guides patients through the healthcare system and helps them arrive on time for appointments.
5. Takes vital signs to establish baselines before examinations.
6. Assists with examinations, working closely with physicians.
7. Collects and prepares laboratory samples, including blood draws and instructing patients.
8. Maintains excellent communication, professionalism, active listening, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
9. Greets patients and schedules appointments.
10. Maintains medical records, including histories and vital signs.
11. Prepares and sanitizes examination rooms and equipment.
12. Provides emotional support as appropriate.
13. Assists with patient referrals to specialists.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Schedule:

• Full-time, Days
• Monday-Friday
• Shift hours vary between 8am-9am start and 4pm-5pm end; travel may be required.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• National Certification CCMA from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
• If expired or in progress, a precertification agreement must be signed.
• BLS certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
• Strong communication, work ethic, active listening, professionalism.
• Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Relevant Experience:

• At least 1 year in healthcare services.
• 2+ years in outpatient, ambulatory settings.
