Job summary

HealthyU Clinics seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinicians with clinical and administrative duties. You will update EHRs, assist with authorizations and care coordination, and prepare rooms for exams and telemedicine visits.

The role requires CMA and BLS, with at least 1 year of experience preferred. You’ll engage with patients, handle vital signs, injections, EKGs, and maintain a patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CMA certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year CMA experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer apps.
  • Strong communication, organization and multitasking.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in healthcare.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate patient records and update EHR systems.
  • Assist with prior authorizations, medication refills, and care coordination.
  • Room patients for in-person and telemedicine visits.
  • Provide patient education, instructions and post-visit guidance.
  • Assist clinicians during examinations and minor procedures.
  • Prepare and sanitize examination rooms following safety protocols.
  • Collect patient history and vital signs accurately.
  • Perform tasks including specimen collection, injections and EKGs.
  • Assist with chart preparation, documentation and coordination.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors.
  • Maintain and restock office and medical supplies; monitor Teams/Athena chats.

Description

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers through the execution of both clinical and administrative responsibilities. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care while promoting efficient daily operations and a seamless patient experience. K ey responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accurate patient records and update EHR systems
  • Assist with prior authorizations, medication refill requests, and coordination of care as needed
  • Room patients for both in-person and telemedicine visits
  • Provide patient education, instructions, and post-visit guidance
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and minor procedures
  • Prepare and sanitize examination rooms, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Collect and document patient history and vital signs accurately
  • Perform clinical tasks including specimen collection, injections, EKGs, and other duties within scope
  • Assistwith chart preparation, documentation, and coordination
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and visitors
  • Maintain and restock office and medical supplies as necessary
  • Monitor Microsoft Teams and Athena chats and respond timely
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of medical assistant experience preferred
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care practices
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in a healthcare environment
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical setting and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Bilingual skills preferred, but not required
