Responsibilities

Join an amazing team at a nationally recognized Top Place to Work in Healthcare! Huxley Family Med, is seeking a Float Certified Medical Assistant with experience in Point of Care Testing (POCT) to join our Family Medicine team. In this role, you will support patient care by assisting with clinical tasks across multiple departments, while also performing lab-related duties such as point-of-care testing. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and dedicated to delivering compassionate care in a dynamic, team-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care tasks including rooming patients, taking vital signs, and updating medical histories.
  • Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) including glucose, rapid strep, urinalysis, hemoglobin A1C, and other tests as required.
  • Administer injections, vaccines, and medications as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and proper inventory of medical supplies.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and timely processing.
  • Accurately record patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Float between providers as needed to cover for absences or increased patient demand.
  • Provide patient education on various topics such as medication administration, healthy living practices, and post-visit care instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation of lab tests, and report critical results to healthcare providers promptly.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Mandatory Reporter training.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technology.
