Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct, age-specific patient care under medical orders and the plan of care directed by physicians. You will work under supervision, support clinical tasks, and coordinate with nurses and other staff.

The role requires CMA certification and either completion of an MA program or equivalent experience. You will be expected to use a computer and standard software, maintain patient privacy, and function across multiple shifts, including

Qualifications

• One year of medical assistant work experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• No work experience if graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.

Responsibilities

• Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
• Job duties may include handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
• Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Scheduling will be established with Nurse/Practice Manager.
