Job Overview

Health & Wellness is seeking a Float Certified Medical Assistant to perform clinical and clerical tasks under the supervision of a physician or healthcare practitioner. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, recording medical histories, preparing patients for exams, drawing blood, processing prescriptions, and assisting with minor procedures. The CMA also enhances patient experience, safety, and privacy.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • BLS Certification approved by AHA
  • Medical Assistant Certification from NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHP
  • Minimum of 6 months relevant experience or training, or equivalent education and experience

Preferred:

  • Phlebotomy and EKG skills
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Certifications and Licenses
  • BLS Certification approved by AHA
  • Medical Assistant Certification from NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHP
Scheduling Requirements
  • Day shift, 40 hours/week
  • Full-time (Float) schedule
  • Travel throughout NJ to all 6 hospitals in New Brunswick, Somerville, Rahway, and Elizabeth
  • Reassignment to different facilities as needed after approximately one month
Essential Functions
  • Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, screenings, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, medication administration, and minor surgeries
  • Handle clerical duties including answering phones, scheduling, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and lab requests
  • Communicate with insurance providers, handle pre-authorizations and certifications
  • Prepare rooms, arrange instruments, and maintain a sanitary environment
  • Room patients, verify information, record vitals, and update medical history
  • Communicate with patients and providers as instructed by the supervising physician or practitioner
  • Create and organize health records and files
  • Perform other duties as assigned
