Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to provide clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced medical setting. You will collect vital signs, prep patients for exams, assist during procedures, and coordinate tests and follow-up care under the supervision of the Nurse Supervisor or Practice/Office Manager.

The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate documentation, teamwork with providers and staff, and potential front-office support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED General or Other / Certificate Medical Assisting.
• Current certification from AAMA (CMA) or equivalent, and BLS upon hire.
• Experience in physician practice setting preferred; minimum 1 year in the area.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and records vital signs and patient information.
• Prepares patients for exams and assists during treatments.
• Coordinates tests and follow-up care; records treatment in the medical record.
• Maintains patient safety and centers the patient experience in care.
• Supports front office tasks as needed (check-in/check-out/scheduling).
