Job description

Job Overview:

Associates in Internal Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed by a physician or health practitioner. The CMA acts as a practice ambassador, contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy.

Qualifications:

Required:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  1. Phlebotomy and EKG
  2. Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  1. BLS Certification approved by AHA
  2. Medical Assistant Certification: NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHP

Scheduling Requirements*:

  1. Shift working, 9am - 5:30pm
  2. Monday - Friday
  3. Saturday's 1-2 per month 9am - 3pm (One day off in week when working a Saturday)
  4. Full-Time
  5. *Occasional coverage to Stirling, NJ

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration, treatments and minor surgeries as needed
  2. Supports practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, preparing lab requests, and other clerical tasks as assigned
  3. Communicates with insurance providers and handles pre-authorizations and certifications as necessary
  4. Prepares rooms, arranges instruments and equipment, and ensures a neat and sanitary environment
  5. Rooms patients, verifies patient information, confirms purpose of visit, obtains and records vitals and updates medical history
  6. Communicates with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner
  7. Creates and maintains health record information, files and organizes, as needed
  8. Other duties as assigned
