Job summary

OSF HealthCare seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to perform delegated clinical and administrative duties within the practice, bridging clinical and front office tasks for smooth patient flow.

You will support healthcare delivery and patient care activities under physician or provider direction, utilizing your MA training and experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED AND completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
• Or equivalency: at least 6 months CMA experience OR completion of on-the-job training/education for CMA.
• Certification in CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, or NRCMA from approved organizations.

Expected pay for this position is $20.41 - $24.01/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. Performs the duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or GED AND Must have completed a Medical Assistant training program

OR: Medical Assistant Training Program equivalency: at least 6 months experience in Certified Medical Assistant role OR proof of completion of on-the-job training/education program for certified medical assisting in another healthcare organization.

Licensure/ Certification:

• Current certification by ONE of the following approved certifying agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), earning Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
• American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Allied Health (AAH), earning Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), earning a National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) credential
• National HealthCare Association (NHA), earning Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential
• National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), earning a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) credential

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with electronic health records or phlebotomy.

Licensure/ Certification: If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association.
