Responsibilities
- Obtain medical history, triage patients, record vitals.
- Reconcile medication list in EHR.
- Respond timely and appropriately to tasks.
- Report abnormal results to physicians immediately (e.g., labs).
- Ensure all patient information is scanned into EHR.
- Assist physicians in exam rooms (e.g., suturing, dressing changes, minor procedures).
- Schedule surgeries, tests, hospital admissions by contacting medical facilities.
- Code diagnoses and procedures for insurance purposes.
- Explain surgical procedures to patients and families.
- Maintain physician’s surgery schedules.
- Answer phones, triage calls, and direct messages.
- Schedule patient appointments and collect paperwork, insurance, and copayments.

Other Functions
- Maintain clean exam rooms.
- Complete KASPER queries for medications.
- Assist with patient forms such as FMLA and school/work statements.
- Check out patients and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Order office supplies and maintain waiting area.
- Perform general office maintenance and housekeeping.
- Complete reports and tracking as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Obtain a medical assisting certification (CMA, CCMA, or RMA) within 90 days if not certified at hire.
- Externship in a medical office may be accepted in lieu of work experience.
