Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Report to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager regarding operational issues.
- Participate in quality initiatives, goal setting, and clinical outcome improvements.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and families.
- Collaborate with administrative and operational staff.
- Gather patient data through interviews and observations.
- Assist patients and families with exam preparations.
- Support physicians or APPs during examinations and procedures.
- Demonstrate competency in practice-specific tasks and skills.
- Provide routine treatments and administer approved medications.
- Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and education according to policies.
- Act as a liaison for scheduling and coordinating specialty testing and consultations.
- Handle calls professionally, using sound clinical judgment.
- Enter orders into the electronic medical system under provider supervision.
- Ensure compliance with Orlando Health policies and standards.
- Follow safety, infection control, and attendance policies.

- Provide age-appropriate care and assess patient data accordingly.
- Maintain awareness of legal, patient rights, and regulatory standards.
- Use supplies efficiently.
- Assist with reception, scheduling, and discharge as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or at least one year of relevant work experience.
Licensure/Certification
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
- Certification from one of the recognized agencies (e.g., CCMA, CMA, CMAC, NCMA, NRCMA, RMA), or consideration on a case-by-case basis for other certifications.
