Job summary

UNC Health in Hendersonville, NC is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to interview patients, initiate care, and assist with procedures in our Hematology Oncology unit. The CMA conducts history taking, vital signs, specimen collection, and test result delivery, while documenting in the EMR and coordinating follow-up tasks.

Qualified candidates will hold CMA certification and BLS, and be able to lift supplies and work onsite. Full-time, 36 hours per week, daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current Medical Assistant certification (CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA or ARMA).
• Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Position requires ability to lift supplies and navigate the clinical area.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to collect and document history, medications, and allergies.
• Measures vital signs and performs standard clinic testing.
• Coordinates and performs follow-on procedures, including onsite testing and specimen collection.
• Assists with provider-performed procedures such as sutures or splints.
• Communicates test results and care policies to patients with cultural sensitivity.
• Documents care in the EMR and ensures required forms are complete.
• Collects and prepares testing specimens for transport to the offsite lab.
• Maintains supplies and medication stock for smooth clinic operations.
