Job description

Medical Assistants provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and offer general support in an ambulatory setting under the supervision of the patient's physician or LIP/RN designee, following policies, procedures, and competency standards to promote patient health and wellness. Duties include:

  1. Patient care, vital signs, assisting licensed healthcare professionals, performing laboratory tests, quality control, and clinical intake.
  2. Providing services to all age groups, demonstrating understanding of their developmental needs.
  3. Supporting efficient clinic operations through effective communication with team members, providers, and patients.
  4. Collecting data on physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions as per standards and policies.
  5. Completing standardized rooming, clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
  6. Providing clinical support during examinations and procedures, including specimen collection, testing, sterilization, wound care, and medication administration, as directed by competencies.
  7. Organizing daily tasks to meet patient needs and support team and operational efficiency.
  8. Implementing age-appropriate interventions based on patient needs and provider instructions.
  9. Reinforcing patient and family education using approved materials.
  10. Ensuring a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
  11. Maintaining supplies and equipment.
  12. Documenting and billing for clinical services during patient visits.
  13. Providing administrative support such as drafting correspondence, scheduling, medication refills, and chart preparation.
  14. Demonstrating teamwork and recognizing time-sensitive issues.
  15. Engaging in professional development for self and team.
  16. Performing other duties as assigned.

Position Compensation Range: $18.37 - $28.47 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Licensure: AHA BLS certification and current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national association (AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, or NHA).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Standing for prolonged periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
