Position: Certified Medical Assistant – Mercy Health Urgent Care – Findlay

The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical support within the scope of practice, contributing to patient care and documentation, administering medications, and supporting virtual visits under provider supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

• Adhere to legal responsibilities within the Medical Assistant role.
• Identify and report significant changes in patient condition.
• Troubleshoot issues and escalate problems appropriately.
• Maintain standards of excellence in care and interactions.
• Maintain skills according to departmental guidelines.
• Assist patients and providers, including virtual health visits.
• Document accurately in electronic medical records.
• Manage messages in the electronic health record as instructed.
• Perform front desk workflows if required.
• Follow up on orders, referrals, and collect co-pays.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including supply management and tracking tests.
• Participate in ongoing training.

Licensing/Certification:

Active Medical Assisting certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NHA, NCRMA, NCMA, NCCT) and BLS certification are required prior to independent patient care.

Education:

High School/GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred (except South Carolina, where specific requirements apply).

Work Experience:

Externship or clinical training preferred; 1 year of recent Medical Assisting experience preferred.

Skills:

• Record patient histories and vital signs.
• Administer medications and collect laboratory specimens.
• Provide medication refills and explain treatment instructions.
• Maintain sterile instruments and perform routine tests.
• Perform general office duties and assist with procedures.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, multitasking, and proficiency with office equipment.
