Overview

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) TCP Sugar Land to gather information, assess, and provide direct care to patients. The role involves collaborating with healthcare team members to deliver age-appropriate care.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program OR documentation confirming that such education is not a certification requirement from the licensing authority
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, outpatient care tasks, and customer service concepts
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills; ability to operate basic medical equipment
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • One of the following licenses or certifications:
    • CCMA - Cert-Cert Clinical MA (NHA)
    • CMA-AAM - Cert-Cert Medical Assistant (AAMA)
    • CMA-C - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (AMCA)
    • EMT levels (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • LIC PAR - Licensed Paramedic (Texas Department of State Health Services)
    • NCMA - National Cert Med Assistant (NCCT)
    • NRCMA - National Registered CMA (NAHP)
    • RMA - Registered Medical Assistant (various organizations)
Core Competencies
  • Demonstrate SMILES and AIDET philosophies in patient interactions
  • Effective communication, including explaining procedures and thanking patients
  • Adhere to standards of behavior
Responsibilities
  • Assist in collecting patient/family data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information
  • Accurately record vital signs, BMI, height/weight, and visit reasons
  • Document medications, allergies, and other relevant information in electronic health records
  • Prepare patients and assist providers during examinations, treatments, and tests
  • Document all interventions according to protocol
  • Manage prescriptions and assist during emergencies
  • Maintain supplies and notify management of shortages
  • Participate in team meetings and coordinate patient care, follow up on lab results and referrals
  • Identify and document patient eligibility for vaccination programs
  • Manage lab work queues and results
