Certified Medical Assistant - CMA Pediatrics on Curtis

Overview: The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients, ensuring smooth office operations.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Certification & Licensure Requirements: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) from recognized bodies such as NHA, NAHP, AMT, AAMA, NCCT, AAH, or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from AMT or ARMA upon hire.

Experience Requirements: None specified

Skills and Knowledge: Capacity to learn and retain information, strong customer service skills, compassion, ability to operate office equipment, proficiency in basic computer skills.

Responsibilities:

  1. Rooming patients: collecting pertinent information, family and social history, surgical history, medication reconciliation.
  2. Telephone interactions: communicating with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities, maintaining patient information per policies.
  3. Administrative tasks: patient check-in/out, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, benefits verification, referral coordination.
  4. Performing procedures such as urine catheterizations, bladder scanning, suture or staple removal, cast application/removal, TB skin test reading, and other diagnostic tests at the provider’s direction.
  5. Providing patient instructions and education as directed by the provider.
  6. Administering medications, assisting with prescription refills, and documenting actions in the EMR.
  7. Maintaining competencies related to point of care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training.
  8. Administering immunizations, PPD tests, nebulizer treatments, oral medications to patients aged 0-21.
  9. Assisting with in-office procedures and completing medication reconciliation.
