Job description

Medical Assistants provide clinical support, assist with administrative tasks, and offer general support in an ambulatory setting under the supervision of the patient's physician or LIP/RN designee, following policies, procedures, and competency standards to promote patient health and wellness. Responsibilities include patient care, vital signs, assisting licensed healthcare professionals, performing laboratory tests, quality control, and clinical intake.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure effective clinic operations through clear communication with team members, referring providers, and patients.
  2. Collect data on physical, psychological, social, and cultural aspects of patients per professional and institutional standards.
  3. Complete standardized rooming, clinical intake, data collection, and documentation.
  4. Provide clinical support during examinations and procedures, including preparing specimens, performing tests (e.g., point of care, CLIA waived, ECG/EKG, spirometry, venipuncture), sterilizing instruments, wound care, and administering medications, as per competencies.
  5. Organize daily work to support patient needs and operational efficiency.
  6. Implement age-appropriate interventions based on patient needs as directed by the Healthcare Provider.
  7. Reinforce patient/family education using approved materials and instructions.
  8. Maintain a safe environment and ensure safe delivery of care.
  9. Manage supplies and equipment.
  10. Document and bill charges for clinical services during patient visits.
  11. Assist with administrative tasks such as drafting letters, scheduling, refilling medications, managing messages, and preparing clinic charts, as per competencies.
  12. Demonstrate teamwork and recognize time-sensitive issues.
  13. Engage in ongoing professional development.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Details:

Compensation Range: $18.37 - $28.47 hourly

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Licensure: AHA BLS certification and current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national organization (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NAHP, ARMA, NHA).
Physical Requirements:

Standing for long periods, frequent bending/stooping/traveling, lifting/pushing/pulling 20-50 lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases.
