Position: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Women Center - Medical Office - St. Elizabeth Boardman - PRN

We will accept non-certified medical assistants; certification required within 12 months of start date.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant works closely with primary care physicians to deliver excellent patient care, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients and community members respectfully.
  • Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming visits, verifying all diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are accurate and current.
  • Measure vital signs such as pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height.
  • Perform clerical duties including checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
  • High School Degree or GED.
Licensure/Certification:

Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):

  • CMA, RMA, CCMA, NRCMA, NCMA, or NCCT certification.
  • If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not in South Carolina).

BLS Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at hire for some locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at others.

Experience:
  • One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
  • Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities:
  • Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Engage professionally with staff and patients.
Position (LPN):

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides patient care under physician supervision, assessing, recording, and reporting patient responses during appointments. Responsibilities include evaluating patient data, educating patients and families, coordinating care, and administering medications according to policies and state regulations.

Licensing/Certification (LPN):
  • Active LPN licensure.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Work Experience (LPN):
  • One year of clinical patient care experience (preferred, not required).
Skills & Abilities (LPN):
  • Knowledge to provide appropriate care for all ages.
  • Ability to learn and use electronic scheduling and registration systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
