NARA Northwest is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for the Wellness Center in Portland, OR. This in-person role supports front- and back-office tasks, greets patients, records vital signs, collects specimens, and helps prepare treatment rooms to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Active CMA certification in Oregon.
  • CPR certification annually.
  • Two years recent paid experience preferred.
  • Medication aide certification a plus.
  • Experience with Native American communities is a plus.

Responsibilities

Title: Certified Medical Assistant

Location: Wellness Center - 12360 E Burnside St., Portland, OR 97233 & Indian Health Clinic - 703 NE Hancock St., Portland, OR 97212

Schedule: This is an in-person position, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm with occasional rotating coverage for the late clinic (10:00 am -7:00pm) and once-monthly Saturday diabetes clinic, rotating every few months.

Wage Range: $26.25 - $29.40 hourly, Non-Exempt

Position Overview

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for performing daily administrative tasks as well as assisting in minor clinical procedures to keep clinic running smoothly.

What you will do
  • Prepare clients for treatment procedures or examinations.
  • Obtain pertinent information regarding visit, takes vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure) and record in medical chart, and takes urine samples when indicated.
  • Perform or prepare for procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and hearing or vision tests.
  • Perform CLIA-waived laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, urine HGB or HCG, rapid strep, and blood glucose.
  • Maintain stock supplies for clinic exam rooms.
  • Clean examination rooms after each use and prepare room for next client.
  • Complete all necessary reports or documents.
  • Order supplies and vaccines.
  • Make all referral appointments.
Qualifications
  • EITHER High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification required.
  • Active certification as a Medical Assistant in the State of Oregon
  • Must have CPR certification annually.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Two years recent paid experience performing the responsibilities noted above preferred.
  • Certified as a medication aide preferred.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
  • Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
