Job summary

Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine P.C. is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support a positive patient experience and high-quality care.

The CMA will greet patients, take vitals, perform EKGs, and assist clinicians in examinations and procedures in a fast-paced outpatient setting. Responsibilities include documenting in the EMR, coordinating tests and referrals, managing forms, and ensuring patient safety and confidentiality per HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Medical Assistant certification in Virginia.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Comfortable using EKG machines, sphygmomanometers, and basic clinical tools.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and escort them to examination rooms.
• Prepare office notes/templates for upcoming patient appointments.
• Accurately measure and document vital signs in the EMR.
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) following protocols.
• Review interim health history relevant to the provider’s examination.
• Notify the provider of significant health changes or urgent concerns.
• Retrieve and organize reports, hospital records, or documentation.
• Assist patients in completing required forms, ensuring accuracy.
• Inform the provider when the patient is ready for examination.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures as needed.
• Answer calls and assist with patient inquiries within guidelines.
• Schedule appointments, tests, and referrals.
• Adhere to OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels and restock supplies.
• Maintain clean, stocked examination rooms.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the provider/administrator.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $18.71 - $21.52 Hourly. Starting pay within the posted range is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, education, and qualifications. The range provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Medical Assistant certification in the state of Virginia.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment if not currently certified.
• Comfortable using EKG machines, sphygmomanometers, and basic clinical tools.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and patient relations skills.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA guidelines with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of patient information.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of medical assistant experience working in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work at a desk for extended periods (sitting), up to 8 hours per day
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day
• Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day
• Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday
