Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support an outpatient clinic. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and the Clinic Manager, you will perform multi-skilled patient care activities and assist with examinations to help achieve optimal patient outcomes.

You will interview patients, measure vital signs, and input data into medical records while preparing rooms and assisting physicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with patient care experience preferred.
• Certification as CCMA/CMA/NAHP/NCCT or equivalent is required or preferred.
• Current BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in the medical record.
• Assists in examination and treatment under physician direction and RN supervision.
• Prepares treatment rooms and supports patient-centered care in outpatient settings.

Job Description Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Job Description

Minimum Education and Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred. Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
