Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct, age-specific patient care under the direction of a physician. The role supports cardiology, pulmonology, and urology clinics, with hours Monday–Friday 8–5.

The ideal candidate will have a current Medical Assistant certification, be able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays, and possess strong organizational and communication skills. Education: high school diploma required; MA program graduation preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of medical assistant work experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• No work experience if graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct, age-specific patient care under the direction of the physician.
• Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; follow hospital policies.
• Job duties may include handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
