Job summary

Valley Health System in Clifton, NJ seeks a Medical Assistant to perform direct clinical duties under supervision, including patient intake, blood draws, EKGs, and pharmacy calls, while documenting in the EMR per licensure rules. The role requires a completed MA program and current CMA/RMA certification.

Excellent patient care and teamwork are essential as you support workflow with all clinic staff to ensure quality care and compliance with VMG policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
• Current and valid CMA or RMA certification recognized by the Board of Examiners is required.
• Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician’s office or outpatient setting preferred.

Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Provider, Practice Manager/Supervisor and/or Service Line Director performs direct clinical activities in a courteous, caring, and respectful manner. These include patient intake, blood draw, pharmacy calls, EKG and any tests required by the physician. Responsible for accurately documenting an EMR system in accordance with licensure and Valley Medical Group (VMG) policies and procedures. Maintains close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care and treatment.

Schedule

Monday through Friday
Late evenings may be required Monday–Thursday, with 1–2 late nights per week beginning in September

Hours

Start times vary between 7:45 AM and 10:30 AM
Standard shift length is 8.5 hours
On late nights, the workday concludes no later than 7:00 PM

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program that is recognized by the State of New Jersey. Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.

Experience

Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician’s office or outpatient setting preferred.

Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred. Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care.
