Job summary

Valley Health System in Paramus, NJ is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinical operations under the Provider and Practice Manager. Responsibilities include patient intake, blood draw, EKG, pharmacy calls, and accurate EMR documentation in accordance with policy.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, completion of an approved Medical Assistant program, and current CMA or RMA certification. Prior MA clinic experience is preferred; on-site day shifts with full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program recognized by the State of New Jersey.
• Current and valid CMA or RMA certification recognized by boards such as AMT, AAMA or NCCT.
• Previous MA experience in a clinic or outpatient setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, blood draw, EKG and related tests as directed by the physician.
• Document encounters accurately in the EMR according to VMG policies and licensure.
• Handle pharmacy calls and coordinate with care team to support workflow.
• Maintain courteous, respectful interactions with patients and staff.

Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Provider, Practice Manager/Supervisor and/or Service Line Director performs direct clinical activities in a courteous, caring, and respectful manner. These include patient intake, blood draw, pharmacy calls, EKG and any tests required by the physician. Responsible for accurately documenting an EMR system in accordance with licensure and Valley Medical Group (VMG) policies and procedures. Maintains close working relationships with all practice staff to ensure proper workflow, care and treatment.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a formal Medical Assistant program that is recognized by the State of New Jersey. Current and valid certification as a certified medical assistant or registered medical assistant recognized by the Board of Examiners such as American Medical Technology (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required.

Experience

Previous MA experience in a clinic, physician's office or outpatient setting preferred.

Skills

Understanding of the operations of a medical practice preferred. Strong orientation towards the provisions of high quality, cost effective and comprehensive medical care.
