General Summary

The BPN Certified Medical Assistant assists physicians with examinations and procedures to serve the medical needs of patients with various health conditions in a professional, confidential, and caring manner. Coordinates the flow of patients, phone calls, lab work, and nurse visits to facilitate quality patient care and customer service goals. Provides professional care within the educational background of the Medical Assistant and in compliance with any applicable licensure/certification requirements and organization policies and procedures.

Principal Job Functions
  • *Demonstrates commitment to the mission, vision, beliefs, and core values of the organization.
  • *Maintains smooth patient flow according to appointment schedules to prevent delays and reduce patient waiting times.
  • *Ensures exam rooms are clean, disinfected, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • *Obtains vital signs, reason for visit, and medication list from patients; prepares patients for examinations.
  • *Assists medical providers with examinations and procedures.
  • *Schedules outpatient tests, procedures at hospitals, follow-up appointments, and specialty visits, adhering to referral processes.
  • *Updates patient demographics and immunization records as needed.
  • *Administers immunizations and medications under provider supervision.
  • *Handles patient call processing as required.
  • *Performs audiometry, eye exams, EKGs, and spirometry as assigned.
  • *Monitors temperatures in refrigerators and freezers.
  • *Supports front desk duties, including scheduling, retrieving patient information, and canceling appointments.
  • *Follows practice policies and procedures.
  • *Orders supplies and vaccinations as directed by the Practice Manager.
  • *Maintains understanding of quality metrics and ensures compliance with OSHA and safety plans.
  • *Maintains a neat, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • *Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a CMA or RMA required. Current listing on the Nebraska Medication Aide registry required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program is preferred.

Other Credentials / Certifications

Current BLS certification required.
