Job Summary/Objective
The Certified Medical Assistant facilitates quality patient care by providing support to the healthcare team and ensuring a positive patient experience. Under the general supervision of and as delegated by a licensed provider and/or nurse, the CMA performs clinical and administrative duties consistent with their certification, training, and state regulations. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.

Job Summary/Objective

Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic.

- This position will use the Treatment class of protected health information.
- Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc.
- Use or disclosure of protected health information not routinely available to this position will follow procedures assessed by or directed by management.

Essential Functions

- Under the general supervision of and as delegated by a licensed provider and/or nurse, the CMA performs clinical and administrative duties consistent with their certification, training, and state regulations including, but not limited to:
oReview of the EHR for office visit
oAssist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
oAccesses and obtains test results and/or documentation through outside entities/hospitals in order to update patient electronic health record.
o“Room” the patient within the electronic health record, take and record patient histories, vital signs and other relevant information.
oAdminister medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers.
oPerform basic laboratory tests (CLIA waived) and assist with diagnostic procedures.
oCollaborate with healthcare team to ensure efficient patient care.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and clinical area ensuring cleanliness and proper equipment.
- Performs duties of the referral coordinator as needed.
- Performs duties of the patient scheduler as needed.
- Manages patient flow in the patient care area as needed.
- Supports a service-oriented atmosphere in accordance with Peoples Community Health Clinic Mission and Philosophy.
- Works to improve work processes and clinical outcomes including health disparity and quality improvement collaboratives.
- Follows policies and procedures.
- Develops and maintains own competence.
- Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.
- Assists in control of Peoples Community Health Clinic resources.

- Working knowledge of MS Office Products (ex. Excel, Word, Access, Power Point) and Windows Platform. Must be comfortable moving within an EHR computer system regularly

- Skilled in planning, organizing, adaptability, attentiveness to detail and flexibility of assignment.

This position operates in a clinical environment, PPE is required.
Physical Demands
This position requires occasional sitting –(1%-33% of shift); frequent standing (34% - 66% of shift; occasional walking –(1%-33% of shift); occasional lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. (1% - 33% of shift); frequent pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs.(34%-66% of shift) and occasionally 11lbs. – 100lbs (1% - 33% of shift); frequent use of hands/arms for repetitive movement and continuous finger dexterity; occasional bending/stooping, twisting, squatting/crouching, and reaching at, below and above shoulder level (1% - 33% of shift).
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
This is a full-time position. Typically work hours and days are between Monday and Friday,8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and some flexibility in hours is allowed. Responsibilities occasionally may require irregular hours as deemed necessary. This may include an adjusted work schedule, long days, and early morning or late evening hours in order to meet client scheduling demands. The employee must work a minimum of 40.0 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Education And Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Completion of Medical Assistant program required.
Licensure
- Current Medical Assistant Certification required
