Job summary

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking Certified Medical Assistants to support Navy Medical Centers in San Diego, assisting with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges and transfers, and providing care to active duty members, dependents, and retirees.

Ideal candidates have a CMA certificate, current certification/registration, and at least 1 year of CMA experience. Work hours are Mon–Fri, 7:30am–4:30pm, with no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Certificate from CMA program accredited by CAAHEP/ABHES or US Armed Forces program.
• Current CMA certification or AMT registration or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of CMA experience in the last 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms prior to patient arrival.
• Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
• Check vital signs and document patient history, allergies and vitals.

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential need for Certified Medical Assistants at Navy Medical Centers in Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) and Naval Branch Health Clinics. The Certified Medical Assistants will be performing Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist with care for U.S. Active Duty members, their dependents, and eligible retirees.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications for Certified Medical Assistant

• Degree: Certificate.
• Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
• Certification: Certified Medical Assistant Only: Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Current registration by the American Medical Technologists or other formal program.
• Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Core Duties for Certified Medical Assistant

• Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
• Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
• Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
• Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
• Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
• Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
• Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
• Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.

Work Schedule:

• Monday - Friday
• No nights and weekends
• 8 hours a day, 7:30am-4:30pm
