Job summary

Akahi Associates/Kako'o Services, LLC is seeking a Medical Assistant at the NBHC Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport, MS. The successful candidate will prepare examination rooms, assist with patient check-ins, and perform vital sign checks.

A certificate from an accredited training program and current medical assistant certification are required. The role offers $16.20/hr in pay with additional health benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES.
• Current certification as a medical assistant by AAMA or AMT.
• One year of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
• Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
• Check patient's vital signs.
• Document patient's history and vital signs on correct forms.
• Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
• Maintain examination room stock levels.
• Complete lab and x-ray requisitions.
• Enter patient data into the computer.

Overview

Location: NBHC Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport, MS

Work Schedule: Performance hours are as follows: The healthcare worker (HCW) shall normally provide services for eighty (80) hours per two (2) week period. Services shall be required for a period of eight and a half (8.5) to nine (9) hours, including an uncompensated half (.5) hour or one (1) hour lunch break, depending on shift length, between the hours of 0600 and 1800, Monday through Friday. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide less than or in excess of eighty (80) hours per two (2) week pay period.

Hourly Pay: $16.20/hr & Health & Wellness $4.93/hr worked (in lieu of benefits)

Responsibilities

• Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
• Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
• Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
• Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
• Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
• Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
• Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
• Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.

Qualifications

• Degree/Education: Certificate. Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.

• Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Certified Medical Assistant Only: Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Current registration by the American Medical Technologists or other formal program as specified in the TO.
• Experience: One (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation.
