Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's CUMC‑Bergan Cardiology Clinic is hiring a Medical Assistant to support care teams, prep patients for visits, and help ensure smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities include greeting patients, taking vital signs, reviewing meds, collecting specimens, preparing medications/vaccines, cleaning and sterilizing instruments, stocking rooms, and escalating non-routine issues.

The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, Monday to Friday schedule, 8 a.m.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ABHES- or CAAHEP-accredited medical assisting program.
• Current nationally recognized certification (AAMA/CMA, RMA, or NCMA).
• Completed Medication Aide 40-hour course or current certification.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care following clinic workflows.
• Greets patients, records vital signs, reviews allergies and current meds, and documents visit reason.
• Collects and prepares specimens for lab analysis.
• Prepares and provides ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Ensures exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Escalates non-routine issues promptly and appropriately.
• Completes safety checklists and quality controls as required.
• Performs other duties within scope as assigned.

Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., no weekends, no holidays, no call.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

This support role will assist healthcare teams to ensure they have everything needed to care for patients. Enhancing the patient experience and preparing patients for their visits are integral parts of the job.

• Performs patient care following established clinic workflows.
• Greets patients, obtains and records vital signs, reviews drug allergies and current medications, completes screening questionnaires, and documents the reason for visit.
• Collects and prepares ordered specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Prepares and provides ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Ensures patient exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly.
• Escalates non‑routine issues, questions, and/or concerns timely and appropriately.
• Ensures safety checklists and quality controls are completed as required and takes necessary action if indicated.
• Performs other duties within scope of role as assigned.

Up to $5,000 sign‑on bonus offered (paid in full after 30 days of employment).

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP).
• Current/valid nationally recognized certification, registration or recognition for medical assistants (AAMA/CMA, RMA, NCMA).
• Successfully completed a Medication Aide 40‑hour course or current/valid certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Pay Range: $18.96 – $26.78 per hour.
