Job Description:

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team in a high-paced medical office in New York, NY. The CMA will support physicians and staff by performing both clinical and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Perform venipuncture and EKGs as needed
• Take vital signs, assist patients during exams, and prepare exam rooms
• Collect and process specimens and conduct point-of-care testing
• Assist with patient mobility (walking, transferring, dressing)
• Monitor and maintain sterilization logs, crash cart, and refrigeration systems
• Check expiration dates and maintain medical supplies and equipment

Administrative Duties:

• Manage patient flow, answer phones, relay messages and instructions
• Enter orders and prescription refill requests into the EMR system
• Maintain and update medical records, charts, and documents
• Assist with insurance verification, pre-certifications, and patient scheduling
• Support surgical scheduling and complete pre-admission paperwork
• Collect co-pays and handle basic front-desk operations as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate program
• BLS Certification from AHA – Required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Preferred
• Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic – preferred)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment
• Must be comfortable with light physical activity and supporting patient mobility
