Job summary

Atlantic Urologists, LLC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support clinical and administrative tasks across multiple locations in coastal South Carolina. The role is a float position covering Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, Carolina Forest, and Conway, with placement at one site and travel to others as needed.

The CMA will take medical histories, assist physicians, collect specimens, administer injections, manage records in EMR, schedule appointments, and communicate with patients

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or CCMA from an accredited program.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take medical history.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Assist physician during examinations.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
• Perform basic laboratory tests.
• Instruct patients about medication and special diets.
• Prepare and administer medications, including injections as directed.
• Transmit prescription refills as directed.
• Phlebotomy.
• Take electrocardiograms.
• Wound care and dressing changes.
• Use computer applications.
• Answer telephones.
• Welcoming patients.
• Update and file patient medical records.
• Code and fill out insurance forms.
• Schedule appointments.
• Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services.
• Handle correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.

Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for providing clinical and administrative duties. The CMA ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care by assisting with patient examinations, preparing exam rooms, managing medical records, and performing other tasks as directed. This role is essential to maintaining efficient workflow and fostering a welcoming environment for patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties (may include, but not limited to):

• Taking medical history
• Explaining treatment procedures to patients
• Preparing patients for examinations
• Assisting the physician during examinations
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
• Performing basic laboratory tests
• Instructing patients about medication and special diets
• Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
• Transmitting prescription refills as directed
• Phlebotomy
• Taking electrocardiograms
• Wound care and changing dressings

Administrative Duties (may include, but not limited to):

• Using computer applications
• Answering telephones
• Welcoming patients
• Updating and filing patient medical records
• Coding and filling out insurance forms
• Scheduling appointments
• Arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services
• Handling correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from an accredited program

Physical Requirements:

• Capability to bend, stoop, and kneel to assess patients or perform procedures
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 25–50 pounds (e.g., medical equipment or assisting patients with mobility)

*This is a float position across four locations - Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet, Carolina Forest, and Conway. The position will be based at one location and will float to the other locations as needed.*
