Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to support providers and the care team in a clinical setting. The role requires graduation from a high school program and current CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or eligibility, with certification obtainable within six months of hire.

Candidates with prior medical office experience and a valid state driver’s license will be favored. Successful completion of required skill validations is essential for employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Proof of current CMA/CCMA/RMA certification from recognized registries; if not certified, obtain by end of the sixth month and sign education agreement.
• Previous medical office experience preferred.
• Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months, as CMA, RMA, or CCMA; valid State Driver's License (Palliative Care only).
• Ability to successfully complete skill validations and competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Support clinical and administrative tasks to assist providers and ensure safe, quality care.
• Maintain certification/registration as required within six months of hire.

What You'll Do

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA), RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
• Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
