Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for a Clinic position. The role is full-time, first shift, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays.

The CMA will provide direct patient care in the Heart Valve Clinic and support various clinic operations. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with exams, scheduling referrals, EMR documentation, and performing waived lab tests.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program (Technical Diploma required).
• Minimum of 2 years of medical office or clinical experience preferred.
• Current CMA certification required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including vital signs, histories, injections, and assisting with exams and procedures.
• Support efficient patient flow and clinic operations.
• Schedule appointments, coordinate referrals, and obtain insurance authorizations.
• Perform waived laboratory testing and specimen handling.
• Communicate test results and provider instructions to patients as directed.
• Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and equipment cleanliness.
• Document accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Follow safety, infection control, and organizational policies.

The Heart Valve Clinic provides specialized evaluation, coordination, and management of patients with valvular heart disease. The clinic collaborates with cardiology and cardiothoracic teams to deliver timely, evidence-based care, support treatment planning, and enhance patient outcomes through coordinated, patient-centered services.
