Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support our care team in delivering high-quality patient care. The role involves direct patient support, vital sign assessment, medication administration, and coordination of care through technology.

The CMA will perform clinical tasks, assist with procedures, provide health education, and handle administrative duties to ensure smooth patient flow and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED prior to hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credentials from any recognized certifying body are required at hire.
  • CPR/BLS certification must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general patient care following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, and current medications.
  • May draw blood and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as needed.
  • Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccines by various routes.
  • May perform routine tests such as EKGs.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), you will be a vital pillar of our care team, significantly impacting patient well-being through direct support and seamless coordination.

Every day, you will actively collaborate on comprehensive screenings, assist with clinical procedures, provide essential health education, and expertly manage administrative tasks, leveraging technology to coordinate care for diverse patient populations. You will ensure patients feel at ease, patiently explaining instructions and addressing their concerns.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical knowledge, technological fluency, genuine compassion for patient well-being, and an adaptable spirit keen on continuous learning and collaborative teamwork.

  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
  • May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKG’s.
