Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) provides general medical care in outpatient clinics. This position works at a franchised AFC location and involves patient intake, vitals, and assisting a licensed provider during exams.

The role supports preparation for exams, medication administration, blood draws, and lab work, with strong emphasis on accurate documentation. The candidate should hold an Associates degree or equivalent; AMT registration and AAMA certification are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
  • AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance per written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
