Job summary

United Medical Centers, Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant to support the care team under the supervision of the charge nurse, assisting in clinic duties and ensuring age-appropriate patient care across infants to geriatrics.

The role emphasizes health education, diabetes and hypertension education, adherence to policies, and compliance with regulatory standards. CPR certification is required; vocational training and MA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited vocational training program for medical assistants.
• Certification or registration as Medical Assistant required.
• Must have current CPR certification.
• Prior experience in various nursing areas preferred.
• Prior experience in patient education primarily in diabetes, hypertension, cardiac, pediatrics, immunizations and other health related education programs preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist under the supervision of the charge nurse and in coordination with providers to deliver care in assigned areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles to care for patients across the lifespan.
• Provide health education and disease prevention services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations, TJC, PCMH and performance improvement standards.

Job description

Description Under the supervision and direction of the assigned charge nurse and in coordination with providers/mid-level providers, assists in providing care in the area(s) assigned in accordance with established philosophy, policies and procedures. Responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan. Must be able to identify and categorize each patient's age specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent or geriatric patients. Assists in the provisions of health education and disease prevention services in the community as needed or required. Responsible for compliance with the other requirements affecting the clinic such as State/Federal regulations, TJC, PCMH, and compliance/Performance Improvement standards.
