The Medical Assistant - Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals, assisting with patient care and other office functions. This is a full-time Monday - Friday position

Location: Dayton, OH. Responsibilities include greeting patients, scheduling, vital signs, EKG, spirometry, sleep study setup, and chart maintenance. Requires CMA/RMA certification and HS diploma.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of accredited medical assisting program required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant required.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure readiness.
  • Take vital signs and document results.
  • Perform spirometry testing and maintain results in the patient order.
  • Conduct and document exercise oximetry and simple stress tests.
  • Perform EKG and maintain results in the patient order.
  • Coordinate APAP/CPAP/BiPAP equipment and results in charts.
  • Set up home sleep studies and document results.
  • Set up overnight oximetry and notify testing completed.
  • Ensure prior authorizations for testing are completed.
  • Cancel and reschedule patient appointments.
  • Maintain medical supplies inventory and ensure rooms are stocked.
  • Maintain drug sample inventory and log appropriately.
  • Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant - Certified provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals, assisting with patient care and other office functions. This role may greet patients, schedule appointments, take vital signs, and maintain medical records. This is a full-time Monday - Friday position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare examination rooms by ensuring rooms are in order and ready for the day
  • Prepare patients for examination by taking and recording vital signs needed for appointment
  • Perform spirometry testing and maintain results with the patient order
  • Perform and documents exercise oximetry and simple stress test
  • Perform EKG and maintain results with the patient order
  • Download APAP/CPAP/Bipap compliance and maintain with patient charts
  • Setup home sleep study including explaining and demonstrating testing to patient, filling out paperwork for borrowed equipment, downloading testing from equipment upon return, and documenting results in HST log
  • Setup overnight oximetry including explaining and demonstrating testing to patient, filling out paperwork for borrowed equipment, downloading testing from equipment upon return, and notifying Clinical Primary testing has been completed
  • Ensure prior authorizations for testingare completed
  • Cancel and reschedule patient appointments
  • Maintain medical supplies inventory and ensure rooms are stocked
  • Maintain drug sample inventory by logging samples into logbook and removing expired samples monthly
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of accredited medical assisting programpreferred
  • Certified Medical Assistantor Registered Medical Assistantrequired
  • Microsoft office proficiency
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals
  • May require satisfactory completion of a criminal background check

  • Frequent use of speech to share information through oral communication
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning equipment, etc.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects up to 25 pounds
  • Occasional use of a computer to enter data in electronic medical records (EMR) applications
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate
Job Location

We currently have offices in Dayton, Centerville, Springfield and Troy. While you may primarily be assigned to one location this position does require the ability to perform this role at any of the locations depending on staffing needs.
