Duties include obtaining vital signs, medication reconciliation, obtaining essential medical information, prior authorizations for medications, and updates to the electronic health record. Responsible for collaboration and coordination with pharmacies, physicians, hospitals, and laboratories on behalf of the people receiving psychiatric services.Pay Rate: $17.56FLSA: Non-Exempt/Full-TimeReports To: Psychiatric Nursing SupervisorQUALIFICATIONS:Education: Associate degree and be a Certified Medical Assistant-CMA/AAMA or Registered Medical Assistant- RMA from accredited institution required.Experience: Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual /developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders valued.Other: Good organizational and communication skills required. Functional computer literacy is required. Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and satisfactory driving record as determined by the agency.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Will compose health-related progress notes, collect an individual's vital signs, and body weights. Body Mass Index (BMI), updates an individual's allergy information and pharmacy information.2. Documentation of all health information within the electronic health record (EHR).3. Will complete medication reconciliation to include hospital discharge medications for individuals seen by the prescriber.4. Assists nursing staff with health care coordination activities.5. Will answer individual calls and take messages for routine calls and forward to the appropriate nurse or prescriber.6. Assists with processing medication refill requests.7. Processes prior authorizations for medication refills.8. Collaborates with infection control nurse for appropriate disposal of medical waste in accordance with agency procedures.9. Assists with coordinating lab requests and relaying lab results to prescribers.10. Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice, including emergency protocol.NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Performs other related duties as required.2. May be requested to be involved in the Board's continuous quality improvement program.3.
