Summary:

This position provides both clinical and administrative support to ensure smooth patient flow and an efficient front office experience. Responsibilities include checking vital signs, obtaining and documenting medical and social history, administering injections, performing venipuncture, scheduling, patient registration, referral coordination, and medical records processing. The role also involves greeting patients, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and coordinating care services. This position may mentor or precept students and volunteers assisting in any of these activities along with other duties as assigned.

FTE: 0.87–1.0, negotiable based on candidate interest and availability. This position works approximately 40 hours per week during August–May, with the opportunity for a reduced summer schedule during June and July depending on the agreed-upon FTE. Salary will be prorated based on FTE
Required Qualifications and Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant training program or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification in the State of Michigan.
  • One (1) year of experience working in a healthcare setting with electronic medical record experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
  • Proficiency in a Windows-based computer system, including email, internet, and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform detailed tasks with frequent interruptions and prioritize work effectively.

  • College Health Experience
Primary Duties:
  • Comply with appropriate regulations including HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA.
  • Follow established clinical and administrative protocols as applicable.
  • Appropriately document patient interactions and medical information.
  • Manage patient phone calls and messages as appropriate for scope of practice.
  • Perform daily patient flow functions and front office duties, effectively multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Safely administer injections and perform venipuncture.
  • Ensure that the registration area and telephones open promptly and that closing details are carried out.
  • Greet clients/patients and obtain necessary documentation, ensuring accurate patient information and insurance verification.
  • Collect payments for services and process billing information.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments following established guidelines and conduct follow-up calls as necessary.
  • Monitor daily schedules to ensure compliance with clinic guidelines and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Keep accurate reports, patient statistics, and office productivity data for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain office and medical supply inventory. Attend staff meetings, trainings, and clinic community activities.
  • Provide care consistent with a patient-centered approach, addressing social determinants of health.
  • Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Salary

Salary will be prorated based on FTE, with a full-time 1.0 FTE salary range of $34,000–$48,500.
