Job summary

Daymark Recovery Services in Avery Center, Newland, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and patients by measuring vital signs, maintaining records, and assisting with procedures. The role requires at least a High School Diploma with AAMA certification and typically 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; reviewing and recording medical histories and taking vital signs.
• Assists health care providers during examinations; prepares laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory tests; disposes of contaminated supplies.
• Completes medical records by documenting examinations, treatments, and results.
• Maintains safe, secure, and confidential patient care environment in accordance with policies and regulations.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Pay Scale:

$17.50/hr-$18.00/hr.

Summary:

Assists physician and patients as needed which includes but not limited to measuring vital signs, maintaining client records, performing lab tests, administering medications, etc..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Verifies patient information by interviewing patients; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; administering medications


• Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; disposing of contaminated supplies; administering medications; telephoning prescriptions to pharmacies; drawing blood; administering injections. Educates patients by providing medication and home care instructions; answering questions.


• Completes medical records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.


• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. Maintains patient confidence and protects medical office operations by keeping information confidential; cautioning others regarding potential breaches.


• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of High School Degree and obtained certification from the Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). One year related experience and/or training preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
