Job summary

Ashford Gardens is hiring a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) for Monday-Friday 6am-2pm in Houston, TX. The CMA administers prescribed medications under licensed nurse supervision, following state and federal rules and facility policy.

You will observe for side effects, record vital signs when needed, and ensure secure medication handling. The role emphasizes teamwork, compliance with medication safety, and participation in ongoing education.

Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant is mandatory.
• State approved medication administration certification (where required).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
• May take and record vital signs as assigned or required by medications.
• Records administration of medications and treatments in the appropriate logs.
• Observes for reactions/side effects and reports to licensed nurse.
• May dispense PRN medications and accounts for narcotics per policy.
• Secures medication carts/rooms per policy; attends education in services.
• Supervises nursing assistants/orderlies as assigned and participates in team activities.

This individual must perform these tasks as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations.
