Summary of Classification
This class is accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement, and personal development by providing instruction to students. This includes developing and implementing curriculum and lesson plans, utilizing technology, and understanding diverse learning styles and needs.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
• Valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement(s) Grades 7-12 (029).
• Knowledge of core curriculum areas, educational philosophy, teaching methods, child development, classroom management, instructional technologies, learner outcomes, and learning theories.
• Skills in classroom management, organization, presentation, human relations, and report development.
• Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to adapt teaching styles, evaluate student performance, communicate effectively, and utilize technology.

Essential Functions

• Supervises students, evaluates performance, maintains records, and promotes achievement.
• Implements district and school goals, develops curriculum, and maintains contact with parents and community resources.
• Participates in professional development, enforces school rules, and manages classroom environment.
• Provides instruction, assesses initial knowledge, and collaborates with staff and specialists for students with special needs.

Working Conditions
