Job Description

• Administers prescribed medication via inhalation and oxygen therapy according to physician orders and departmental protocols.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient conditions and treatments accurately and timely.
• Educates patients and family members about illnesses and clinical interventions.
• Adheres to department standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensures patient documentation is accurate and complete.
• Cleans and stocks respiratory equipment regularly.
• Participates in Code Blue and Rapid Response Team activities.
• Administers non-invasive therapy for patients of all age groups, from infants to geriatrics.
• Provides clerical assistance as required by the department.
• Performs setup of Holter monitors, electrocardiograms, cardiac stress tests, and exercise oximetry as ordered.
• Assists with patient transports requiring respiratory intervention and maintains intubation boxes.
• Performs peripheral intravenous line insertion and pacer interrogations as needed.
• Maintains Autopaps for use.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must possess good verbal and written communications skills. [Required]
• Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently [Required]
• Knowledge of outpatient hospital services. [Required]
• Ability to work closely with physicians. [Required]
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge, training and experience in hyperbaric chamber maintenance and minor repair [Preferred]
• Operational knowledge of NFPA99, gas handling, Hyperbaric Safety Codes, PVHOI and 2 CGA and other safety related Guidelines. [Preferred]

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Vocational/Technical School [Preferred]

Work Experience

• 1+ year of clinical hyperbaric experience [Preferred]

Additional Information

Completion of a 40 hour Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) or National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT) approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course [Required]
