Requirements of the Certified Home Health Aide

MUST HAVE A VALID NEW JERSEY HOME HEALTH AIDE LICENSE!

Certified Home Health Aides must be detail-oriented, able to follow protocols and rules regarding patient care, and adhere to instructions from doctors and nurses. They should be trustworthy and dependable to ensure patients and their families feel comfortable relying on them.

Skills and Qualifications

• High school graduate or G.E.D. preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience as a Caregiver/Certified Home Health Aide in healthcare settings.
• Valid NJ Licensed Certified Home Health Aide license.
• Fully COVID vaccinated & booster.
• 2-step PPD test.
• Physical exam within the last 12 months.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
• Valid driver’s license and insured automobile.

Responsibilities

Certified Home Health Aides assist patients with vital signs, medication, daily functions, and transportation planning. They may work in facilities, hourly, or live-in settings.

Additional Duties

• Light housekeeping
• Meal preparation and cooking
• Grocery shopping
• Reporting health status to nurses
• Teaching self-care skills

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $17-20/hour, depending on experience and case.
• Extra pay on weekends.
