Job summary

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a Histology Technician Certified to prepare and process tissue samples for routine histology and microscopic examination by a pathologist. You will perform fixation, embedding, microtomy, staining, and coverslipping, ensuring high-quality slides and strict laboratory standards while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Strong attention to detail is required, along with the ability to multitask under supervision and meet turnaround

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program
• HS with 60 college hours including biology and chemistry OR an associates degree with biology/chemistry and histology experience
• High school diploma plus 2+ years of histology experience acceptable in lieu of degree/certification

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare tissues using histological techniques (labeling, fixation, embedding, microtomy, staining, coverslipping)
• Section and stain histological specimens for routine and special studies
• Prioritize work to meet turnaround time standards
• Assist pathologists within scope of practice
• Monitor inventory and log reagents per procedures
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment with limited supervision
