Job summary

SASED seeks a trained, certified teacher of the deaf to serve as an itinerant educator for hearing-impaired students. The role involves direct instruction, assessment, and collaboration with schools within the SASED Self-Contained Program and mainstream classrooms.

The educator will assess progress, implement IEPs, and coordinate supports like interpreters and note-takers, ensuring effective services for hearing-impaired students across district settings.

Qualifications

• Trained, certified teacher of the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
• Experience assessing classroom performance and programming for hearing-impaired students.
• Ability to instruct and provide for the needs of hearing impaired children.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional service to itinerant students.
• Participate in determining specific goals for direct service.
• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Informally and formally assess student progress on an ongoing basis.
• Accomplishment of IEP goals and classroom performance.
• Monitor need for and assist in implementation of support services such as notetakers, interpreters, study guides.
