Job summary

Butler County Family YMCA seeks a certified Group Exercise Instructor to lead safe, engaging cycle classes at the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA in Cranberry Township, PA. The role is part-time (less than 29 hours/week) with a focus on inclusivity and community building.

Requirements include a HS diploma, 18+, YMCA or national group fitness certification, CPR/First Aid/AED, and online Healthy Living certification within 60 days. Prior teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; required.
• Minimum age of 18; required.
• YMCA Group Exercise Instructor certification or National certification in group fitness instruction (e.g., ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM); is required.
• Certification in area of expertise; required.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification; required.
• YMCA Healthy Living Online Certification completion within 60 days of hire.
• At least one year of experience teaching group exercise classes; preferred.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Responsibilities

• Lead energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
• Ask and answer questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.
• Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
• Build effective, authentic relationships with members; help members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.
• Observe and adjust approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
• Celebrate achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
• Keep accurate class attendance records.
• Attend all staff meetings and approved trainings as required.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
