Job summary

Town of Berlin seeks a Fleet Mechanic w/ Certification to perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal vehicles. The role requires ASE-T1 to T8 certifications, a CT Class B CDL, and welding/electrical/mechanical repair experience.

Strong safety focus and teamwork are essential. The Maintainer VI reports to the Fleet Management Director and will provide emergency road service and ensure vehicles meet federal/state safety rules.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; automotive tech school preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains municipal equipment and vehicles in safe operating condition.
• Diagnose repairs using advanced diagnostic software.
• Performs fabrication, welding, cutting and heating as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and DOT guidelines.
• Provide quality customer service and teamwork.
• Implement new methods and technologies to improve operations.
