Job summary

The Township of Washington is seeking an Auto Mechanic to maintain and repair a range of motor vehicles and construction equipment. You will work with the Department of Municipal Services during standard hours to perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics.

Three years of experience, a valid NJ driver’s license, and ASE Master Technician certification are preferred; ASE certification can substitute for up to one year of experience. Diesel experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of varied experience in the maintenance and repair of various types of motor vehicles and/or construction equipment.
• Certificate from ASE may substitute for one year of the work experience indicated.
• Must possess a valid NJ Driver’s License.
• Extensive auto mechanic diesel experience preferred.
• Must possess thorough working knowledge in all aspects of automobile/construction equipment repair.
• Ability to follow assignments set by Municipal Director and/or DPW Supervisors.
• ASE Master Technician.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair engines and components, power trains, suspension systems and other mechanical units of vehicles and construction equipment.
• Repair of major systems such as diesel engines, transmissions or hydraulic systems as part of total repair.
• Use a variety of tools, equipment, and testing devices to locate and fix malfunctions.
