Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Active Personal Training Certification and must start recertification 1 month prior to expiration.
• Uncertified Team Players may complete a Trainer Certification within the first 30 days; Bachelor’s degree may substitute.
• CPR/AED certification required; CPR/AED training within the first 30 days of employment.
• Familiar with Excel’s mission, values, and Planet Fitness brand and operational requirements.
• Demonstrate the ability to run a successful small group session with members.
• Great communication skills with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Fully proficient in the role as detailed in PF Trainer Playbook and PFU.
• Train members during all PE@PF small group training sessions.
• Stay proficient on Planet Fitness app content and workout tracking.
• Design individualized exercise programs based on experience, medical background, and goals.
• Submit training programs and logs to the GM for review.
• Inspect equipment for malfunction and report findings to GM/AM; perform basic maintenance.
• Log and upkeep training data in club management software.
• Monitor club floor to ensure proper equipment use and policy compliance.
• Deliver daily the trainer’s key contributions: engage, support, promote, educate.
• Monitor and maintain club cleanliness and atmosphere.
• Assist front desk operations; communicate professionally with members.
• Represent the company at community events and outreach.
