Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester in Winchester, TN seeks a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) to join a high-volume surgical services department. The CSFA provides direct assistance to surgeons across multiple specialties and supports patient safety throughout procedures.

Ideal candidates are team-oriented, able to work independently, and committed to delivering exceptional perioperative care. On-call duties include at least one weekday per week and every fifth weekend, with a 30-minute response

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist program required.
• Current CSFA certification through NBSTSA required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct surgical assistance to the surgeon during operative procedures.
• Position patients to maximize surgical site exposure while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Assist with visualization of the operative field through tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning, irrigation and sponging.
• Assist with achieving temporary and permanent hemostasis using appropriate techniques.
• Assist with wound closure, dressing application and management of drains.
• Maintain a sterile environment and promote patient safety throughout the procedure.

This position provides direct assistance to surgeons during a wide variety of surgical procedures and plays a critical role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

Position Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical First Assist program required
• Current Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Call Requirements

Participation in the call schedule is required, including a minimum of one weeknight per week and every fifth weekend, with a required 30-minute response time when on call.
